The Palazzo Venier dei Leoni is an unfinished masterpiece of architecture, begun in 1748 by the architect Lorenzo Boschetti. At the end of 1948 Peggy Guggenheim purchased Palazzo Venier by the heirs of the Viscountess Castlerosse. It will dwell for the next thirty years. From 1951, and until 1979, the year of his death, Peggy Guggenheim opens the palace and the collection to the public.
